What We Do?

We provide a warm, creative and professional environment for actors to meet casting directors, agents, managers and producers. Our casting director workshops are structured so you can learn how to book jobs. You learn how to book from the casting directors and agents that do the hiring! The tips and knowledge they teach you is invaluable. The Network provides 1 night, 3 week, and Online workshops.

We understand the industry and the changes that are coming! We keep up on everything so we can keep you on top of your career! We are more then just a workshop! We are a resource for you! We know what the casting people want to see! We give them the option of seeing prepared scenes or cold read! We want you to put your best foot forward!

Why We are Different?

Adopt Me!

10% of all profits go to animals in need!
1. The Network is opened to our actors Monday to Friday 11am to 5pm. We are always here to answer questions, look at your pictures, help with resumes, let you look through our scenes or you can just come in and rehearse!

2. We are the only studio that also offers online workshops! You can come in, tape a scene and email it directly to a casting person or agent for feedback! You will receive feedback and tips directly! It's the Green way to workshop!!

3. We have over 24 one night workshops a month and about 7 agent showcases! The "one nighters" are structured so you can work on your cold reading skills and fine tune your audition technique!

We feel it is important to let the Casting Director pick your scene based on your head shot! It allows you to understand how they would cast you and it keeps you on your toes! Our "one nighters" are done one on one with a reader or with the entire class in the room. We leave it up to the casting director.

This workshop is a learning experience. It is not an audition or employment opportunity. When the workshop is over, the casting director/casting associate/casting director (whichever is applicable) teaching this workshop will not be taking home nor be given access to your headshot, resume or any other of your promotional materials.

4. Our intensives are 3 weeks long and taught by a casting director. You work more intensely with them and develop a relationship. During the three weeks you will perform a cold read, a prepared scene and get one on one time with them! Again we let the casting people bring in scenes that they feel are appropriate for you.

5. The Network Studio auditions every actor that attends our workshops. All of our workshops are capped at 24 actors and we have a track record for bringing in industry guests that never do workshops any where else!

6. There are no membership fees and no hidden obligations.

What to expect from us?

We are dedicated to actors! We find great and interesting guests ranging from those who cast your favorite TV shows and movies to Network Heads, Executive Producers, and VP's of Development for great film companies!

We keep up with the industry! We look at casting notices, follow the trends and are on top of the wave of the future! (which is online submissions and auditioning!) We know who is casting what, which shows are picked up and dropped and we know all of the industry news! It is our job to know whats up so we can tell you!

We are always on time, straightforward and available for you. We answer emails with in the hour and everyone on our staff has a cell phone that you can call.

What we look for in our actors?

Dedicated artists who are ready to work.
Follow our policies and be respectful to your fellow actors.

About The Owner and the History

Melissa Bacelar
Melissa Bacelar moved to LA from NY in 2003. She quickly learned that even with an impressive body of film and TV work under her belt Los Angeles was not an easy town to conquer. After doing the normal "actor" stuff, (sending out pictures, going to auditions, even signing with a reputable agent and manager) she realized she had to take control of her own career. Melissa started taking Casting Director Workshops and she began to learn audition technique and cold reading from the people that do the hiring. The results she was seeing were phenomenal. She started auditioning more frequently, booking jobs and most importantly understanding the business of "The Business."

In September of 2004 she opened The Network Studio. As a working actress she knows that no actor, no matter who their agent is, gets enough auditions. So when they do finally get in the room with a casting director they have had no practice on how to actually book the job. That knowledge is priceless. Every casting person and every casting office has likes and dislikes. They are looking for certain things in the actors they hire. If you can learn these things before you get the audition you are a step a head of the game. That is why Melissa developed The Network, to help the actors that come through her studio doors understand how to audition and more importantly how to book.

In a very short time, TNS, has become one of the most respected Casting Director Workshops in LA and now NY! Melissa and her staff of working actors pride themselves on helping their clients further their careers.

Membership to the studio is free and the support and knowledge their clients receive is priceless. The staff is available for questions and to help their clients pick the right Casting Directors to meet!!

The Network Studio also opened a production company, Lost Angeles Films and started producing films in 2006.
